Divisions
The divisions in GCE are designed to encourage team play across many ranks. Players can sign up with any teammates regardless of rank disparity and will be placed in an appropriate division based on the overall team skill rating.
Team Calculator
Players can see which division they are likely to be placed in by using the Team Calculator tool.
Rules
All players are required to uphold the league rules. Any player or team that breaks any of these rules or does not meet the standards of conduct may be removed from the league immediately. League organizers reserve the right to remove any player from the league for any reason.
1. Team Skill Rating
A. Each team will be placed in a division based on a calculated overall skill rating derived from each player's 3v3 competitive MMR
i. Each player's MMR will be determined by their max peak MMR over the last 3 seasons that they played 20 or more games in 3v3.
ii. Players must use their primary account when playing in league matches.
iii. Players that have intentionally thrown games to lower their MMR may be disqualified from play.
iv. Team skill rating will be determined using the Team Calculator tool.
B. Teams may request to move up a division before or during regular season play.
i. Requests may be approved or denied at the discretion of league organizers.
C. With the goal of maintaining fair competition, a team may be automatically realigned to an upper or lower division during regular season play at the discretion of league organizers.
2. Registration
A. Teams must register using the provided form before the registration deadline for that season.
B. Teams can use the Team Calculator tool to estimate the division they will be placed in, but no placement is guaranteed and some exceptions may be made to ensure fair play and balanced divisions.
C. Players can register for as many teams as they'd like as long as each team is in a separate division.
3. Match Scheduling
A. Matches will be automatically scheduled based on each team's day of the week and time preferences provided during registration.
i. Match days and times may vary week to week.
B. If a team cannot make a scheduled match time in regular season play, they may request a new time to play from their opponent's captain.
i. Both team captains must approve the new match time for it to take effect.
ii. If the opponent's captain refuses a reschedule for any reason, the original scheduled time will remain.
iii. Matches cannot be rescheduled outside of the week they were originally scheduled for (Sunday to Saturday).
4. Substitutions
A. Temporary player substitutions can be made at any point at least an hour before the schedule match time.
i. The captain of the team making the substitution must alert their opponent's captain of the new player(s) and links to the RL tracker page of their account(s).
ii. A team may NOT substitute ALL players on the team. Example: a maximum of 2 substitutes can be made for a 3-player team. In other words, a team must always have at least one player from the primary roster in play.
iii. If a substitution is made for a team captain, they must alert their opponent's captain of the primary roster player that will take their place as captain for the upcoming match.
iv. All substitutions must keep the team's skill rating in the appropriate range for the division they are playing in. Teams are responsible for verifying this using the methods described in Section 1: Team Skill Rating.
v. Players that are on the primary roster for a team in a division may NOT act as a substitute player for another team in the same division.
5. Match Day
A. The "home team" of the match is responsible for making the match lobby.
i. All game mutators must be set to default for standard 3v3
ii. The "home team" will always play on blue side while the "away team" will always play on orange side.
iii. Proper team names should be used for both sides when creating the lobby.
iv. The name and password of the lobby must be communicated directly to the opponent team's captain no later than 5 minutes after the scheduled match time.
v. All matches must be played on US East servers unless otherwise agreed upon by both team captains.
B. If a team does not have enough players in the match lobby 5 minutes after the lobby has been created, the match will be considered an automatic forfeit for that team.
i. If neither team has enough players, both teams will be considered to have forfeited the match unless both captains agree to reschedule.
C. Games must be played consecutively with no prolonged breaks or timeouts unless agreed upon by both team captains.
D. If a player disconnects, the game must proceed without them, and no administrative pauses will be allowed. The disconnected player has a 10 minute reconnection window to avoid an automatic forfeit of the match.
E. Games in a match may not be manually forfeited by either team at any point.
F. No substitutions can be made at any point during a match.
G. The home team is responsible for reporting the final match score in Discord.
i. Game scores and replays are NOT required for score reporting.
H. A maximum of 1 spectator per team is allowed in each match.
i. Any spectators must be approved by the opponent's captain prior to the match.
6. Playoffs
A. Playoffs will be held at the end of the season for each division.
i. All teams will be able to participate in playoffs with seeding determined by regular season results.
ii. The winner and finalist teams will receive special tags in Discord to commemorate their achievement.
7. Minimum Age Requirement
A. All players must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate in the league.
8. Player Conduct
A. Players must always strive to treat teammates, opponents, and league organizers with respect.
B. There is zero tolerance for hate speech.
C. This is a community league organized and played with sole purpose of creating a fun, inclusive, social environment. Any behaviour that directly prevents certain individuals or groups from actively engaging in this environment is prohibited.
