Any adjustments to the following terms and procedures for a given commission must be agreed upon in writing between all parties before I accept the commission.
How to commission me

Via online form

Send me a filled in commission request form and I'll respond to your request within 3 working days via email
I will default to communicating with you via the email address you provide me in the commission request form.
Note that I reserve the right to reject any commission request without explanation.

Optional: communicating on Fluxer

If you would like to use an instant messaging platform to communicate with me, I currently accept discussing commissions on Fluxer.
You can let me know through the option on the online form whether you want to chat with me on Fluxer about your commission. If I either accept your commission or wish to discuss further details with you, I'll then email you an invite link to discuss your commission with me on Fluxer.

Via VGen (coming soon)

I'll be opening commissions on VGen as well once I'm verified and able to take commissions on the platform.
Licensing, credit, and sharing
My commissions are only available under a personal use license, i.e. for individual, non-commercial, and non-monetised uses only.
I do not claim any ownership over material (including characters, settings, or stories) from pre-existing IPs that do not belong to me
You cannot claim credit, ownership, or copyright over my commission
For any public use and sharing of my commission, you must credit me
You can create digital or physical end products of the commission for your personal enjoyment
You can share the commission on non-commercial and non-monetised social/content platform accounts that belong to you, the licensee

Commission file formats

Once I finish your commission, it will be made available to you in two non-editable formats: as an Ellipsus link and as a PDF.
By default, I reserve the right to share my commission for you on my AO3 account or snippets thereof for my commissions portfolio.

Options for privacy

Regarding posting your commission to my AO3 account, if you would like to exercise a level of privacy for your commission, you have a few options:
Linked to AO3 work – the work will be posted on AO3; your AO3 account/preferred handle will be listed as a recipient of the work
Unlinked to AO3 work – the work will be posted on AO3; you will not be listed as a recipient of the work
Options for further privacy for your commission, i.e. barring me from posting the commission on my AO3 or to use snippets for my portfolio, are unavailable at this point in time.
Payment Procedures
These are only applicable for commissions I take via online form; any communications or payments I take on VGen will be restricted to VGen.
Initial 50% deposit to begin commission; remainder adjusted in case final word count is less than initial quote.
After finalising the details of your request with you in writing and accepting your commission request, I will send you an invoice of 50% deposit of the commission quote. Only after I am paid the deposit will I begin working on the commission.
The remainder of the payment is expected once I complete the final draft; only upon receiving payment will I give you the final commission in your preferred file format.
It is possible that the remainder of the payment will be less than 50% of the initial quote if I complete the commission to your satisfaction at a lower word count than anticipated.
The maximum you will pay for the remainder of the commission price is equal to the 50% deposit, i.e. I will not charge you for words that go over the initially agreed word count cap.
Expected Turnarounds
The durations of time listed in the table below are general estimates beginning from when I receive your deposit.
Note that these turnarounds are subject to change depending on my circumstances.
If I have accepted your commission and something comes up that will impact my work on your commission, I will communicate that with you promptly.

Writing services – preset word count ranges

I charge based on word count at a non-linear rate based on the expected length of the commission.
Prices are charged by rounding the word count to the lowest 100.

You can specify a word count cap within a particular product range to suit your budget – I will aim to match your word count cap as closely as possible through the different drafts and revisions of your commission.
In the exceptional case where I am unable to convey your commission idea within your word count cap throughout the drafting stages, we can re-negotiate your commission at no extra cost.
You pay no extra fee for words that go over your word count cap for the final draft.

Surprise me! – flat rate per word

This option is for if you want to provide minimal creative input and just want to let me cook.
Every Surprise me! commission is done for £1.10 per 100 words before any discounts are applied.
The bare minimum information you need to provide me is the following:
Main franchise
Main characters
Desired word count (rounded to the lowest 100)
If you want me to write for original material, including OCs in an existing franchise, you'll need to provide me reference files and information on that material.

Additional services for creative writing commissions

Free revisions for quality or correctness

I will be in active communication with you about your commission as I work on it. Unless you state your preference to me otherwise, I will default to sharing with you (1) any draft I finish and, if applicable, the initial outline and (2) particular scenes I want to consult you about.
I will always strive to fulfil your commission as you've detailed as accurately and faithfully as possible. If there are parts of my WIP you indicate need revision with respect to your commission details and/or the source material, I will revise the relevant parts for free.
Also, for any spelling, punctuation, and grammar (SPAG) errors relayed to me after the commission is delivered, I will always provide a corrected version of your commission for free.

Allowances for concept revisions

In case you want to change aspects of your commission idea or add details that were not previously specified in ways that are unrelated to how well I've executed your idea, I provide an allowance of free revisions to your idea until asking for an extra fee.
These concept revisions cannot be made when I'm editing towards the final draft of your commission and afterwards.
Free concept revision allowances:
Up to 3 minor changes that requires rewriting one or two scenes
Up to 2 major changes before the first draft or initial outline is finished
Up to 1 major change anytime after the first draft is finished that requires significant redrafting
Concept revision services that will incur an extra fee:
Additional minor changes requiring rewriting one or two scenes = £2.25 per 100 words
Additional major changes requiring significant concept revision or redrafting = £2.75 per 100 words

Researching for familiarity

For any commission request I discuss or consider accepting, I will let you know if my familiarity with your requested franchise will impact the turnaround time or pricing of the commission.
For characters, settings, worlds, and pre-existing content I'm not familiar with, my turnaround time will be extended by a week.
If you provide me comprehensive material to consult and reference (e.g. compilations, scenepacks, existing fanworks you like, reference sheets), no extra research fee will apply.
Otherwise, an independent research fee will apply depending on my pre-existing familiarity with the material.

Refund policy
If I fail to begin your commission within a week of receiving your deposit, you are entitled to a refund.

Cancelling a commission

If I have started work on your commission and you decide to cancel it, the deposit is no longer refundable.
If you cancel your commission without wanting to receive WIP files, you will receive no extra charge other than my keeping of the deposit.
If you wish to receive WIP files for your cancelled commission before it is completed, you may have to pay a remainder fee to receive files of the work I've done based on the price-per-100-words of the product you paid for based on the table below.

Cases of absence – going AWOL

For the purposes of these terms, a message requesting an update or response about the commission will count that is neglected for 3 weeks after being sent counts as going AWOL.

Client side

If a client goes AWOL, I will mark the commission as cancelled and keep the deposit.
I will also note a record of the client having gone AWOL and that will lower the likelihood that I will take another commission from said client.

My side

This excludes cases where I have indicated in writing I will be AFK for a specified period of time.
If I go AWOL and have not started working on your commission, you are entitled to a full refund of your deposit.
If I go AWOL and have started working on your commission:
You are entitled to a partial refund of your deposit depending on how much work I have already completed on your commission
If I have done an amount of work conmensurate with the full deposit, the deposit will not be refundable
The most up-to-date WIP file of your commission will be provided free of charge
